Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy treatment focuses on helping people achieve independence in all areas of their lives. Occupational therapy can offer adults through children with various needs, positive activities to improve their cognitive, physical, and motor skills. The desired outcome is to improve ones occupation or outcome and independence in daily living tasks, improve one's self-esteem and sense of accomplishment. Working with children differs from adults as their "occupation" is play and learning. An occupational therapist can evaluate a child’s skills for play activities, school related performance, and activities of daily living and compare them with what is developmentally appropriate for that age group.
