Bell Sports Medicine

ImPACT
Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing (ImPACT) is a computer-based, neurocognitive test that is used by the Bell Sports Medicine Team as a tool in order to manage student-athletes at Ishpeming, Negaunee, and Westwood High Schools who have received a concussion. A baseline test is administered prior to the sports season and is unique to each individual athlete. If an athlete suffers a concussion, they again will be tested using the ImPACT program and their test results will be compared to their baseline test result to assist in determining their safe return to play.

Our Sports Health team consists of certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) who provide event coverage of the Ishpeming and Westwood high school athletic teams, as well as assist with patient treatment sessions in the clinic for all populations of people. They work together with Physical and Occupational Therapy for complete injury management. They provide:

  • Comprehensive injury evaluation
  • Acute injury management
  • Off-the-shelf bracing, custom bracing, and orthotics as needed
  • Support for athletes in injury prevention

Aquatherapy

In partnership with Negaunee Public Schools, we will be offering aquatherapy to patients who would benefit from a non impact, supportive environment. Patients that would most benefit from Aquatherapy include those with:

  • Severe arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic pain
  • Pregnancy and postpartum back pain
  • Neurological disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis
  • Pre- and Post operative patients
  • Anyone having difficulty performing regular land based therapy

What does aqua do?

  • Eliminates most of the effects of gravity, providing a supportive environment reducing impact on the joints and muscles.
  • Provides resistance in all directions allowing for strengthening and endurance training in a natural and adjustable environment.
  • Hydrostatic pressure allows for improved circulation and greater cardiac efficiency in deep water.

Ask your doctor if you think Aquatherapy may be right for you!
